Social Protection: MSWRR holds work coordination meeting 1/2023

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win on Friday held a social protection work coordination meeting 1/2023 at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.

In his capacity as Chairman of the work committee on Social Protection, the Union Minister said that social protection activities are a long-term investment on citizens and the activities need to be carried out continuously.

As the task implementations of the social protection have increased, Social Management Information System-SMIS was developed for better social protection measures. Among the citizens who already got the SMIS numbers, the lists of the citizens who hold National Identification Cards will be registered with the Electronic ID (e-ID) system.

Relevant ministries and officials are urged to accelerate the use of Electronic Cash Transfer system in providing social protection cash assistances, he added. Then, the secretary of the committee and committee members made sector wise discussions and 7 decisions were made.
