The Ministry of Labour, Immigration and Population will extend the social health protection for the labourers who purchased health insurance and lost their jobs amid Covid-19.

The one-year extension plan was announced by the order number 64/2020 on 20 March.

Many businesses, including the cut-make-packing system factories, in the country were forced to close, suspend and lay off their workers amid the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.

In accordance with the Article 100 of Social Security Law (2012), the lay-off workers could enjoy health care benefits, including the costs for medicines and travel charges, up to one year beginning the day of unemployment, and the order has taken effect on 20 March.
