Strong wind gusts swept through the borough while locals shoveled sidewalks and buses moved slowly along snow-covered avenues. A huge blizzard dumped 50 centimeters of snow in Central Park, according to New York City's climate reporting station -- the ninth biggest snowstorm ever recorded there.
