Snow falls on Spanish island of Mallorca

A heavy snowfall this weekend has left an unusual sight on the Spanish island of Mallorca. The accumulation of snow, the wind and the ice slabs forced the emergency services to close up to 37 kilometres of several roads near the Tramuntana mountain range on Saturday.

Many locals approached the mountains to enjoy the snow, which fell at altitudes of over 600 metres. A local explained this cold weather is not usual in the island, so they hurried to see the snow because as soon as the sun comes out, it will melt.
