Sniffing dog finds more than a million euros during a routine check in Italy

A police sniffer dog helped recover over one million euros in cash near the city of Florence in July, Italian border police revealed on Tuesday.

Elio, a black Labrador, sniffed out 1,180.000 USD hidden inside a passenger’s luggage during a routine police petrol on buses in the small town of Scandicci in northern Italy.

The owner of the bags has been detained.  The Florence prosecutor’s office opened an investigation and Elio has become famous thanks to his nose for gold.
