Singapore said that coronavirus patients who are unvaccinated by choice will have to pay their hospital bills starting Dec. 8. Ong Ye Kung, Singapore Health Minister said “As I have mentioned in a recent parliamentary reply, MOH (Ministry of Health) will also have to impose hospital charges for COVID-19 patients who are eligible but choose not to be vaccinated, and this will start on 8 December, 2021.

Our hospitals really much prefer not to have to bill these patients at all, but we have to send this important signal, to urge everyone to get vaccinated if you are eligible." In Singapore, which started allowing quarantine-free entry to fully vaccinated travelers from certain countries, the number of new cases has jumped to thousands a day from less than 100 before. But most are not winding up in the hospital.
