Silver Jubilee Celebration: Myeik University organizes 25th anniversary ceremony

Myeik University organized its Silver Jubilee Anniversary with variety of activities on Friday.

After formally opened the ceremony, Chief Minister U MyatKo, together with officials, cheered the traditional foods competition of the respective academic department of the university. The ceremony continued at the Convocation Hall, with a speech, delivered by the Chief Minister.

He urged all to strive for achieving high quality education to be equipped with critical thinking so as to contribute in building a union based on democracy and federal system. During the ceremony, honorary certificates and cash rewards were presented to the outstanding teachers in Art and Science Paper Reading Session, winners of traditional foods competition and the resource persons for the University Research Journal.

Initially established as the Myeik College in January 1999, it was upgraded as the Degree College level in 2001 and as the university level in 2003. The university publishes Research Journal annually, and it confers B.A, B.Sc, M.A and M.Sc degrees. Arrangements are underway to offer Ph.D degree at the university.
