Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General ThadoeMaha ThraySithu ThadoeThiriThudhamma Min Aung Hlaing sent a message on the occasion of the 77th Anniversary of Shan State Day, which falls on 7th February.

In his greetings, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes to all national people from Shan State and the entire nation for physical and mental well-being, along with peace and prosperity. He expressed that the emergence of Shan State Day is intertwined with history, highlighting national unity in the nation’s struggle for independence.

During the period from 3rd to 6th February 1947, Saophas, who were members of the executive committee of Shan Feudal Council, and Shan public delegates held talks. On 7th February, Shan, Kachin, and Chin delegates formed the subcommittee and signed the meeting decisions to pursue independence together with the mainland of Myanmar.

As a gesture of honoring the 7th February, when leaders of Shan, Kachin, and Chin ethnics adopted the decisions to pursue independence alongside the mainland of Myanmar, such a significant day was designated to observe Shan State Day for 77 years.

Hence, Shan State Day holds prominence for the entire Myanmar people and all ethnicities adopting the provisions of the Panglong Agreement, which is fundamental to the historic Union Day. He added that now is the time for all to walk on the correct path in harmony by learning from past events to ensure the perpetuation of the State's sovereignty and to develop the nation.

He urged all stakeholders to protect the State and the people with patriotic and national spirit and to nurture the new generation of youths to become valuable human resources. He extended best wishes for entire Shan State to be peaceful, prosperous, and developed in all aspects, and for all ethnic people to enjoy improvements in socio-economic life.
