Several roads and half a dozen bridges closed

Torrential rains have swept across Spain on Sunday. The emergency services have responded to thousands of warnings. At least two people died and three others are missing after parts of Spain were lashed with heavy rains causing severe flooding as a storm swept across the country.

According to reports citing Spain’s meteorological agency Aemet, the rainfall would gradually decrease in several areas on Monday, but “intense rain” would keep falling in parts of central Spain, Andalusia and the northwestern parts of the country. Several roads in the Madrid region were closed as half a dozen bridges were torn down by water overflowing the riverbanks.
