Several missing after Madrid building collapse

Spanish emergency services rushed to the scene of a partial building collapse in central Madrid on Tuesday. Firefighters and emergency crews responded after several floors of the structure gave way during renovation work. State broadcaster TVE reported that three people were injured and five others were missing, though authorities have not confirmed those figures.

Police and rescue teams remain on-site, continuing search and recovery operations. Video released by emergency services on X showed the building’s facade covered by a large green construction tarp used for renovation projects. The cause of the collapse has not yet been determined.
