Serbian officer shot with crossbow outside embassy

A police officer has been injured in a crossbow attack outside the Israeli embassy in the Serbian capital, Belgrade. The officer used a weapon in self-defense and defeated the attacker, who died as a result of his injuries.

Authorities said some arrests had been made and a number of people known to the security services were suspected of being linked to the attack, which the Serbian prime minister described as a "heinous terrorist act". The wounded officer was undergoing surgery in hospital, and special prosecutors had taken over the case.
