South Korea’s Foreign Ministry said several of its nationals were detained during a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raid at a battery plant construction site in Georgia on September 4. The ministry urged Washington to ensure their rights are protected and avoid undue infringement on South Korean companies’ business activities.

It said the Consul General from the Embassy in Washington and a consul from the Consulate General in Atlanta were dispatched to the site, with an on-site response team formed. Seoul also conveyed its concerns to the U.S. Embassy.
