In Dakar, Mauritania's Prime Minister Moctar Ould Djay hailed a new migration cooperation agreement with Senegal, adding that all Senegalese nationals are "welcome in Mauritania".

The agreement follows the crisis of forced expulsions of sub-Saharan migrants by Mauritania in March 2025. Restructuring would allow Senegal to alter its loan terms through various means, such as increasing its repayment term or cancelling part of the interest or debt.
