Senate Republican leaders are criticizing President Joe Biden's $5.8 trillion budget proposal. Republican senators say the increase for the Defense Department isn't enough due to the high inflation rate. They also criticized bigger budgets for agencies like the IRS and the Environmental Protection Agency. And they decried Biden’s $2.5 trillion, 10-year tax boosts, which the president said would only affect the nation’s highest earners.

Senator Rick Scott, Florida said "Biden's budget is bad for American families. We already know we have $30 trillion for the debt under his budget. The debt will increase over the next 10 years $14.4 trillion, which is over $100,000 per family”. “We've got to get this budget under control, and what Biden is doing is not going to help us."

Biden laid out the proposal for the next fiscal year on Monday. He and his Democratic allies touted the budget as focusing on fiscal responsibility, security at home and overseas and investments in social programs to help families afford housing, child care, health care and other costs.
