In Beijing, the first batch of self-driving police patrol vehicles have been approved for road tests, performing police duties in an efficient way. The unmanned police vehicles patrolled on roads at the High-Level Autonomous Driving Demonstration Area in the Beijing Economic and Technological Development Area.

Following police orders, the self-driving vehicles traveled along a designated route, and transmitted real-time images back to the police office, enabling police officers to respond to calls for help and accidents like fire at once. The vehicles carry security and rescue equipment on road, including explosion-proof clothing, fire extinguisher and first-aid kit, and police officers can also open their doors remotely to respond to emergency situations.
