Seizure of homemade bombs: Homemade bombs seized in Bagan Archaeological Zone

The security forces shot and arrested a terrorist who was transporting homemade mines to commit violent acts on Nyaung-U - Bagan Road in Nyaung-U Township, Mandalay Region.

The incident occurred while security forces were conducting operations to prevent terrorists from hiding within the Bagan Archaeological Zone, to protect cultural heritage sites from violent destruction, and to ensure public safety.

At around 6 a.m. on October 8, security personnel stopped a motorcycle coming from Nyaung-U toward Bagan to conduct a routine check. However, the male rider did not stop and attempted to flee. Security forces fired warning shots, causing the motorcycle to lose control and stop. Upon inspection of the motorcycle, they discovered two homemade mines made from PVC pipes hidden under the seat. The terrorist rider was found dead from injuries sustained by small-arms fire.

The authorities are proceeding with the necessary actions according to standard procedures, and security forces are increasing measures to prevent terrorist activities within the Bagan Archaeological Zone.
