Seed Fair 2024: 3-day event commenced in Nay Pyi Taw

The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation is carrying out the Agro sector activities week as a gesture to mark the Peasants’ Day. As part of the activities, an opening ceremony of Seed Fair 2024 was held in the compound of Agriculture Institute, Pyinmana on 1st March.

In his opening speech, Union Minister U Min Naung said Myanmar possesses many good conditions to produce various seeds according to its geographical and climatic conditions.

He urged all to develop the seed production industries by creating necessary preparation, mitigation and supporting measures, while striving to be able to stand as seed export country, after achieving local sufficiency.

He added that organizations and private companies related to production, export and distribution of seed have to conduct the tasks in line with the law and regulations. He also instructed the need to achieve mutual benefits for both seed producers and farmers by distributing good quality seeds.

After the opening ceremony, the Union Ministers, Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman and attendees viewed round the booths displayed by Seed companies and associations, pilot fields and GAP fields. The Seed Fair 2024 will run from 1st to 3rd March and people who are interested in seed production and agriculture industry can visit there free of charge.
