


A large security perimeter remains in place after an explosion tore through an apartment building in Trévoux, in France’s eastern Ain department, killing two children and injuring 13 others.
The blast occurred on Sunday, prompting an extensive emergency response and the evacuation of nearby residents. Search operations continued on Monday as one person remained unaccounted for. French Interior Minister Laurent Nunez visited the scene on Monday morning to assess the situation.
Authorities said the victims who were injured are not in life-threatening condition. In total, 53 people were affected by the explosion and required assistance. The cause of the blast has not yet been confirmed and an investigation is under way.
