Sea turtles released in Southern Spain as temperature rises change nesting patterns

Young loggerhead sea turtles on Tuesday were released in Marbella, southern Spain, with the species becoming more common on Spanish shores as a result of climate change. According to biologist, many of these turtles should not originally be nesting here, citing an increase in temperatures as the reason for the turtles' change in behaviour.

The 49 turtles being released hatched on the beach a year ago and have been returned to the sea fitted with tracking devices. The turtle is on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature's red list for threatened species.
