We have plans to help more schools with school safety measures.”

The project has almost 95% finished in the 20 schools including public schools and monastic Schools to strengthen community and institutional resilience to natural hazards in Myanmar.

Yangon Region, Mandalay Region and Rakhine State are the project areas - teachers, parents and students from those regions and state joined the workshop.

Principal, BEMS Shwe Kyan (Minbya Township), Htun Myint Soe said “We received school safety TOT training at Hinthada Disaster Management Training Centre. And, we gave the training back to grade-6, grade-7 and grade-8students at my school in collaboration with fire services and red cross departments. Teachers, parents, students and members of the community have now known school safety through the project - we need to upgrade the measures every year.”
