





On 12th December, School Library Development and Reading Habit Promotion Campaign was held at Basic Education High School (Branch) Nyaung Pin Village of Dagon Myothit Seikkan Township in Yangon.
It was attended by Head of Yangon RegionDepartment of Information and Public Relations and many other concerned officials. The reading habit promotion campaigns are being conducted across the nation aiming to nurture the reading habit of the youths for the better future of the nation.
Sithu Maung Maung, IPRD, Dagon Myothit Seikkan Township Officer, said " The purpose of the campaign is to promote reading habit of the youths and to educate them to value the literature and acknowledge its crucial role in shaping better future. Thanks to the concerted efforts of the relevant individuals, the campaign was held successfully. The students and parents also enjoyed the campaign activities. The donated books and publications will be transferred to the basic education schools within township."
The campaign included stage performances of the students, interesting activities and competitions as well as knowledge sharing session.
Hla Hla Nwe, Assistant Director, Yangon Region (East District), said "The campaign includes interesting competitions such as story-telling, poem reciting, youth talks and essay competitions that students can participate. These competitions somehow help the students to read more as they need to prepare and extend their knowledge by reading books."
Zaw Myo Htut, Dagon Myothit Seikkan Township Education Officer,said "I believe the campaign brings a ton of benefit and joy to the students from remote area like Nyaung Pin Village. Reading is the easiest way to explore new things in various sectors. It will enlighten people and lead them to make right decisions on right path. So, I would like to thank to the relevant officials who make exerted efforts to organize the campaign successfully. I hope the campaign will continue held in future."
During the ceremony, donors and well-wishers donated books and publications for the school libraries within township.
