School health week activity: Educative talks, sports events, lunch box project

Under the school health week activity, the educative talks, sports events and the lunch box project contests were conducted at the No.1 Basic Education High School, Dagon in Yangon.

The school has started the activity on 7th August and on Tuesday sports activity, the high school level football match was held and 18 teams participated in the event.

Agga Min Thwin, High School Teacher, No.1 B.E.H.S, Dagon said " By holding the football match, the students can have team work spirit. As the football match is played by using the whole body and it can be said that the sport will support to develop the students’ physical and mental strength."

Thawdar Min Khant Naing, Grade-11, No.1 B.E.H.S, Dagon said " I have played the football match at the school since young. I am very delighted to play with my friends. We are very satisfied to hold awareness seminars and variety of sports games such as football and basketball."

Phone Pyae Sone, Grade-11, No.1 B.E.H.S, Dagon said " The students are enthusiastic and they are interested in the sports especially football and basketball. By holding this kind of event, the students are more interested in learning and sports activities."

Jointly organized by the Township Health Department and a Pharmacy company, the health awareness talks, “The Tips on Puberty” was also conducted for Grade-8 and Grade-9 female students. Likewise, the Lunch Box Project programs were also conducted in cooperation of parents and children.

Nu Nu Aye, Primary School Teacher, No.1 B.E.H.S, Dagon said "This program is conducted by parents and children. We hold the lunch box project as we’d like to know how the parents prepare the lunch for their children and the food are included three nutrients or not. We’d like to understand three nutrient groups to parents and children."

Wut Yi Mon, Student Parent said "We usually cook the food at our homes daily. By holding this kind of event, we will understand the nutrient groups of the food and we can raise awareness."

The school health week activities are be conducted at the No.1 High School, Dagon from 7th to 11th of this month.
