Santa Claus sets off Lapland to deliver gifts for Christmas

Santa Claus was seen departing Finnish Lapland on a sleigh, joined by two reindeer on Monday, beginning his annual tradition of delivering gifts to children around the world.

When he isn't distributing presents, Santa lives near his workshop on the Lapland fell of Korvatunturi in northern Finland. As it has done since the 1960s, Finnish public broadcaster Yle captured Santa's departure on video and has shared it with other broadcasters around the world via the European Broadcasting Union.
