Salvador Illa takes office as Catalonia's new president

Socialist Salvador Illa takes office as president of Catalonia. He was elected as Catalonia's new leader on Thursday 8th August by parliament vote, becoming the first regional head not from a pro-independence party since 2010. The Socialist obtained 42 seats in the last Catalan election, which means that he will have to make deals with other parties in order to push measures forward in this new government.
