Salay Archaeological Museum: Upgrading works underway for displays of the museum

Upgrading tasks will be made at Salay Archaeological Museum in the compound of Yoke Son Monastery in Magwe Region.

The Department of Archaeology and National Museum under the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture is implementing the upgrading activities.

There are a total of 32 Museums under the department which are being opened for the public knowledge.

Nyi Mon, Deputy Director, Archaeology& National Museum Dept. said "Under the supervision of the Department of Archaeological and National Museum, and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture, there are 2 National, 10 Archaeological, 14 cultural, 4 Buddhist and 2 Memorial museums in all regions and states. All these museums will be carried out the upgrading works. Buddhiststatues, mail boxes and the related historical things were being showcasing and will be changed the display format in accordance with the categories in Salay Yoke Son Monastery Museum."

SalayYoke Son Monastery is a historic Buddhist Monastery and it was built in Konbaung Era, and it is known for its abundance of woodcarvings, depicting the scenes of the Jataka stories. The monastery has been preserved for long term maintenance and it was transformed as the museum for the public observance.
