An NFL football game between the Cleveland Browns and the New Orleans Saints still went on Saturday, despite the ongoing winter storm battering much of the United States.

The field at First Energy Stadium in Cleveland was cleared of snow ahead of kickoff but players, coaches and fans were still facing freezing temperatures and biting winds.Across the country, officials have attributed more than a dozen deaths to exposure, icy car crashes and other effects of the storm.

Forecasters said a bomb cyclone - when atmospheric pressure drops very quickly in a strong storm - had developed near the Great Lakes, stirring up blizzard conditions, including heavy winds and snow.
