S.African woman gets life term for selling 6-year-old daughter

A South African court on Thursday sentenced a woman to life in prison for kidnapping and selling her six-year-old daughter, in a case that horrified the country.

Nicolette Bell, Senior Deputy Director, Public Prosecutions said "The six-year-old Joshlin Smith is still missing, we urge the community and everybody to continue looking for her. Today's result is also a testimony of what happens if community stakeholders, everybody, work together as a collective"

The little girl went missing in February 2024 from her home in Saldanha Bay, north of Cape Town, and has never been found.
