Safety of Visitors In Post COVID-19: Hotels With Health And Safety Measures in Mandalay

Mandalay Region Directorate of Hotels and Tourism is undertaking for safety of the visitors in post COVID-19 and there have been 40 hotels that have been presented the national level certification.

Arrangements are being made for the hotels to present the Health and Safety Protocol certifications. To resume hotel and tourism industry in post COVID-19, Directorate of Hotels & Tourism in Mandalay Region is distributing COVID-19 preventive guidelines and rules to be followed by the hotel staff.

ZawMyoLatt, Director, Directorate of Hotels & Tourism (Mandalay) said “After inspecting the hotels by officials from the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism, the General Administrative Department, the Directorate of Labour, the Hoteliers Association and the Health Department, firstly, they are allowed to regional level if they meet the set rules. There are 434 hotels in Mandalay that have qualified regional level.”

For the national level, the hotels can apply on the website. Only when the facts they presented and the facts on the ground are matched, the national level certificates will be issued and measures are being undertaken under the Enchanting Myanmar Health and Safety Protocol, the official added.

ZawMyoLatt, Director, Directorate of Hotels & Tourism (Mandalay) said “When the hotels resume their operations, we distribute guidelines and guidebooks based on the version 2.0 of the Ministry of Health. Based on the guideline books, we drafted the rules for inspection. We have added the fact in the second phase that all hotel staffs must complete the courses on COVID-19 and they have already vaccinated. We have a plan to carry on the international level.”

Out of 582 hotels in Mandalay region, there are 434 hotels that have undertaken in line with the rules set for regional level. Currently, 274 hotels are operating in Mandalay and 40 hotels have been presented the national level certification.
