Safeguarding the Customs: Kayin Traditional White Thread Tying Ceremony in Bago

Kayin Traditional White Thread Tying Ceremony was held at the city hall in Bago on Thursday with the attendance of member of the State Administration Council Mahn Nyein Maung, Union Minister for Ethnic Affairs Jeng phang Naw Taung and Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win.

After formally opened the ceremony by striking Kayin Traditional dram 9 times, the SAC member, the Union Minister and the Chief Minister extended greetings. This was followed by explanation on the history of Traditional White Thread Tying.

After enjoying performances by the Kayin ethnic people, attendees received the traditional whit thread tying at the designated place. During the event, cash assistance were provided to elders and Bago Region Kayin Literature and Culture Committee. The Union Minister also presented cash rewards to Kayin Traditional dance troupe.
