The sacred relics of Lord Buddha have arrived in Bhutan for an eleven-day public exposition as part of the Global Peace Prayer Festival. They were brought from New Delhi to Thimphu by a delegation led by India’s Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar. The relics, usually kept at the National Museum in New Delhi, will be displayed at Kuenrey Hall of Tashichho Dzong.
The exposition runs from November 8 to 18. Bhutan’s Prime Minister expressed gratitude to India for facilitating the visit, calling it a symbol of friendship and shared spiritual heritage. This is the relics’ second visit to Bhutan, following their first in 2011. The exhibition will also feature displays on Buddhist art, the teachings of Lord Buddha, and the history of the relics.
