SAC Law No. 48/2025: Protection of Multiparty Democratic General Elections

The State Administration Council (SAC) enacted the Law on the Protection of Multiparty Democratic General Elections from Obstruction, Disruption, and Destruction as the SAC Law No. 48/2025 under Section 419 of the Constitution of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on the 29 of July.

The law aims to prevent obstruction and disruption of the work process of the multiparty democratic general elections. Moreover, it shall prevent disruption and obstruction of canvassing activities carried out under the law during the pre-election period of the multiparty democratic general elections. The law shall cover the prevention of disruption and obstruction of the right of eligible voters to cast their votes freely under safe and secure conditions.

In addition, the law aims to enable polling stations and on-duty personnel inside the stations to carry out their responsibilities with full security.
