The Information Team of the State Administration Council issued a statement on Thursday urging the resolution of political problems through political means.
The statement emphasized that the Tatmadaw has to take responsibilities of the state in accordance with the 2008 Constitution, in light of attempts to seize power through illegitimate means, which overlook efforts to address the political issues arise from the alleged electoral fraud in the 2020 General Election.
The Tatmadaw has formed the State Administration Council, ensuring a balanced representation of military and civilian members. This council is tasked with carrying out state duties by laying down a Road Map and objectives. Efforts are underway to transition state responsibilities to the elected government by holding free and fair multiparty democratic elections.
Despite these initiatives, the peace, stability, and development of the state have been significantly hindered. Armed conflicts have resulted in loss of life, damage to property, and destruction of infrastructure and human resources, due to acts of terrorism that disregard political solutions.
As part of these efforts, a census enumeration process is set to begin on October 1st, aimed at enhancing the accuracy of the voter list for the upcoming elections. In light of the suffering caused by armed violence, the statement calls on Ethnic Armed Organizations, insurgent groups, and PDF terrorists to abandon their violent tactics.
They are invited to engage in the political process through party politics or elections, as a means to resolve the ongoing issues peacefully and collaboratively with the populace.
