In Russia, rescue efforts are underway to save 13 trapped workers under gold mine near the Chinese border for more than 48 hours.

The collapse struck on Monday trapping the miners at 125 metres underground at the Pioneer mine, one of the country’s most productive gold mines. The Deputy Head of Russia's Emergency Ministry said that the situation at the mine is difficult but all the measures will be taken to find and save people.

Authorities said it could take up to three days to drill deep enough to get to the miners. And, experts from mining region arrived on Wednesday and joined a team of more than 100 other rescuers to participate in rescue operation.
