Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with President of the State of Palestine

On Saturday evening, Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, who arrived in Russia to take part in the ceremonial events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

During the meeting, the Russian President emphasized Moscow’s deep concern regarding the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and expressed strong support for achieving lasting peace in the region. 

Putin stated that “They have always been convinced that sustainable peace in the region can only be achieved on a generally recognized international legal basis, which presupposes the creation of two states for two peoples.

Russia has consistently advocated for ensuring humanitarian access and resuming the Middle East peace process”.
