On Holy Saturday, ahead of one of the most important Christian holidays Easter Russians gather near their local church. People prepare and bring Kulich, a sweet Easter bread with glaze and raisins, as well as brightly painted eggs — symbols of the holiday and new life. The priest sprinkles the food with holy water while reciting a prayer.

For many parishioners of Russian Orthodox churches, this tradition not only fills the Easter table with blessed treats but also brings families together.
