Russian gardener grows a near one-tonne pumpkin

The Giant Vegetables exhibition opened in the "Aptekarsky Ogorod", a botanical garden in Moscow on Saturday, with farmers from all over the country travelling to the capital to compete with their pumpkins, zucchini and watermelons. This season, over 3,000 contestants from all over Russia took part, from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok. The winner of the giant pumpkin category was Alexander Chusov, who grew a pumpkin weighing in at 969kg.
