Russian church marks Orthodox Christmas with lavish ceremony

Head of the Russian Church Patriarch Kirill who lead a grand ceremony for Orthodox Christmas at Moscow's Christ the Saviour Cathedral, with President Vladimir Putin also attended a private service near his residence.

The almost 600-year-old "Trinity" artwork, painted in the Middle Ages by Andrei Rublev, was placed back in the cathedral for the service.Russians and Orthodox in some other countries observe Christmas on 7th January.
