Russia says emergency minister dies during drills

Russia's Emergency Situations Minister Yevgeny Zinichev has died during training drills in Siberia, the ministry said Wednesday.

The ministry published footage, filmed Tuesday, showing Zinichev visiting the city of Norilsk during the exercises. The 55-year-old minister tragically died in the line of duty during inter-agency exercises to protect the Arctic zone from emergency situations, while saving a person's life, the ministry said in a statement.

Zinichev became the head of Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry in 2018.
