Rural Electrification: Power distribution in Magway Region

Magway Region Government has been allocating annual fund to boost electricity production, distribution and implementation to provide electricity access to more villages in the region.

On November 27th, the opening ceremony for providing electricity access to 3 village in Magway Township took place with the attendance of Chief Minister U Tint Lwin, concerned officials and townselders. After cutting the ceremonial ribbons by the Chief Minister and officials, 11/0.4 KV 200 KVA (Kilo Volt Amperes) transformer was unveiled.

Then, the Chief Minister and officials oversaw the electricity distribution to the villages. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister stated the government’s supports for country’s electricity sector implementing to build 33/11 KV 20 MVA electricity distribution station to be able to provide access to Magway Industrial Zone. Based on solar system, implementations are underway to distribute electricity 24/7 through thermal power as the Energy Mix Backup.

The Chief Minister called for cooperation of all concerned departments and public to use electricity consumption effectively. It’s learnt that the newly opened transformer can provide electricity access to about 13,000 households in KyarKan, Bagan Mhyaw and YwarThitGyi villages within the region. From 2021 to 2025, electricity have being distributed to about 98,480 households in 785 villages in Magway Region.
