Rural Development Works: New bridge and roads opened in Nay Pyi Taw

Hailing the 78th Anniversary Armed Forces Day, Nawin Creek crossing Reinforced Concrete Bridge was held at Makyipin village-tract of Tatkone Township on 23rd March.

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe attended the opening ceremony together with Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council U Tin Oo Lwin, Nay Pyi Taw Council members and officials.

The Union Minister said that the national comprehensive development and rural poverty reduction activities largely based on the facilitation of rural transportation.He added that there is a need for development of rural roads that can be connected regardless of the season so that local people's agricultural production can be transported throughout the year.

Therefore, the government has been laying down the policies for rural road and bridge development in order to achieve the efforts for development of the country, sustainable progress of socio-economic life of rural people, narrowing the development gaps between states and regions as well as rural and urban areas.

He said the rural roads and bridges have been been upgraded in accordance with the set standards. He urged all to cooperate in ensuring the long-term maintenance of the bridges. Afterward, the Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council also urged the local people to cooperate and maintain the bridge for a long time.

One of the local residents spoke words of thanks for construction the new bridge. After the ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to open the new concrete bridge, the attendees sprinkled on the stone inscription of the bridge, and strolled along the bridge.

The Union Minister and Party later attended the opening ceremony of the asphalt road, connecting Pounnama-Ywatawgone road and Yangon-Mandalay highway.After formal opening of the ceremony, the officials inspected the newly opened road.

The Pounnama-Ywatawkone village road is 2.6 furlongs in length and will provide convenient production for more than 330 acres of cultivated land of the two villages. And then, the Union Minister and partiy attended the opening ceremony of the production road in Aunggyikone Village of Lewe Township.

The Union Minister said that the 70% of the Country’s population are rural people and the country’s development can only be achieved if the socio-economic life of the people living in rural areas is developed. So, the government laid down the policies for rural development and poverty reduction.

Objectives and Strategies are being formulated for development programs to be implemented quickly and efficiently. He stressed that the Department of Rural Development has adopted to implement continuous rural development activities as a priority process of the government in accordance with the goals of Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan and the goals of the national comprehensive development strategy.

In order to improve the quality of life of the rural people, production roads have been constructed, so that agricultural products can be easily transported from the workplace to the village in a cost-effective manner. He added that other regional development projects including providing safe drinking water and rural lighting works are being implemented every year.

He pointed out that the newly opened production road could benefit to more than 500 acres of agricultural land in Madokpin village tract. He urged all to make efficient use of the new facility for the development of the region.

The officials later formally opened the new road and inspected it. The Union Minister and the party then arrived at on-the-job training being conducted by the Department of Rural Development, met with the new employees attending the training, and discussed the morale and attitude of the employees.

They also visited the Rural Road Development Department in Pyinmana District Office and inspected the conducting of research activities. He also gave instructions to ensure the systematic lab examination for the equipment used for the construction sites and apply the research works for quality construction of the roads and bridges.
