Rural Development Projects: Aiming For Improving Rural Socio-Economic Life

The Department of Rural Development is implementing rural development projects every fiscal year, aiming for improving socio-economic life of and rural people. In 2022-2023 fiscal year, rural development projects such as Mya SeinYaung Village project, Village Development Planning (VDP) project, Cash for Work (CFW)project and rural water supply project are being implemented in over 200 villages of Taninthayi region. 

Rural Development is aimed to improving farming incomes, social conditions for education and health, village electrification, environmental conservation, improving village infrastructure and livelihoods and administration skills within 1-year project period.

Ye Khaung, Director, Department of Rural Development (Taninthayi) said “In Taninthayi region, 94 rural water supply projects will be carried out in 72 villages. In this fiscal year, we will build 13 miles and 6 furlong long roads in 14 villages of 9 townships. Also 23 bridges will be built on that road. For Mya SeinYaung project, funding will be provided for 3 villages from union budget and for 2 villages from regional government budget. We are also implementing the CFW project. It aims to get the job opportunities for people who lost their jobs during COVID-19 pandemic.”

In this fiscal year, the smart village project is being implementing as the pilot project in 3 villages in Taninthayi region. The training for supporting rural livelihood will be conducted for 25times. And also, the electricity access has been carried out in 34 villages through solar mini creep system.
