Rural Development: MCRD Deputy Minister tours in Shan State (South)

Deputy Minister for Cooperative and Rural Development U Myint Soe along with Shan State Transportation Minister and the departmental officials observed Potato Tissue Culture plantation farm.

Operating under Potato Cultivation and General Economy Cooperative Association in Naungtaya Township, Pa-O Self-Administered Zone in Shan State (South), the farm is cultivating the Netherlands Markies potato species.

The plantation is now in its phase-2 process, and after completing all phases, the species will be distributed to local growers starting May 2025. Currently, the farm is reproducing potato species from Russia which was presented by Russia Federation during the state visit of Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. 

At the sports stadium of Sports and Physical Education in Pinlaung Township, the Deputy Minister and party oversaw the practicing of women vollyball players to participate in the National Sports Festival representing the Ministry.

Cash assistance, energy drinks and nutritious foods were also provided to the players. Then, the Deputy Minister and party visited the Department of Rural Development where they met with officials, coordinated the requirement and provided rice, edible oil and relief aids.

The Deputy Minister wrapped up his inspection tour by inspecting MSME businesses, assisted by Department of Small Scale Industry under the project for promoting small industries and income of rural families.
