Runways at New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido, northern Japan, were closed temporarily on Thursday morning due to intrusion by deer.

The operator, Hokkaido Airports, said it closed both of its runways from shortly after 10 a.m. after two deer entered the area. Services resumed on the runways by around 10:50 a.m. after the animals were driven away. The operator said four flights had to change their destinations and three others had to make a go-around of the airport before landing due to the incident.
