Rotterdam Marks 40 Years of Vibrant Summer Carnival

Rotterdam celebrated the 40th Summer Carnival on Saturday with a vibrant display of dance and music. The event, featuring over 3,000 dancers and 42 groups, showcases carnival traditions from the Antilles, Cape Verde, Suriname, and Spain.

In 2023, UNESCO recognized the festival as intangible heritage due to its cultural diversity. The parade of the two-day street festival in Rotterdam attracts tens of thousands of people every year.
