Rome unveiled on Tuesday its second eco-friendly, low-impact Christmas tree, as the city installed a spruce in Campidoglio Square.

The six meter tree, powered by six bicycles connected to a power generator, will light up Rome's city hall and its square until January 6.During the unveiling, Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri, President of the City Council Svetlana Celli, as well as several councilors and private citizens rode bikes to light up the tree. The energy crisis hits the tradition of Christmas lights all around Italy, and ‘carbon free’ trees seem to be a winning model in this year’s Christmas.
