Role of Human Resources: School library development & reading habit promotion

Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn and Mandalay Region Chief Minister U Myo Aung attended the opening of school library development and reading habit promotion campaign at the No. 1 Basic Education High School in PyinOoLwin on Tuesday.

The opening included a stage performance titled ‘Library: Knowledge Bank” and screening a video clip regarding the school library development and reading habit promotion. In his speech, Chairman of the Myanmar Libraries Development Cooperation Committee Union Minister U MaungMaungOhn said that a country must be built on the basis of human resources.

To improve the development of the country, young people must be nurtured. And, the Union Minister donated over 250 million Kyats for construction of 17 rural libraries in Mandalay Region, 12,000 books for 600 rural libraries and DTH satellites and DVB T2 Set Top boxes for basic education high and middle schools in PyinOoLwin.

Also, the Chief Minister expressed words of appreciation and donated books for the school library. This event continued with entertainment programmes and presenting cash awards to those who participated in the entertainment programmes. There, the Union Minister also oversaw activities regarding the library development and reading habit promotion campaign.
