Robot conductor’s orchestral debut

EveR 6, a robot conductor led a rehearsal of the Korean National Orchestra at the National Theater of Korea in central Seoul on Monday.

The humanoid robot has a data of human conductors' gestures converted through motion capture technology. The robot conductor led the dozens of musicians without any mistakes and took the stage alongside a musician.

When the robot signaled the start, the musician added improvised elements. Its movements looked natural, but there were some limits. EveR 6 will debut as a conductor at the Korean National Orchestra's recital titled ″Absence″ on coming Friday.

The robot was developed by the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology and will be the world's first robotic orchestra conductor.
