Rights for PWDs: National Committee holds meeting 1/2023

The National Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities held its meeting 1/2023 at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement on Wednesday with an address by Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Soe Win.

In his address, the Union Minister said that the 5-year strategy for the development of socio-economic life of persons with disabilities has been drawn up and will be released in nearly future. He urged all to make efforts to strengthen the participation of people with disabilities in natural disaster mitigation activities.

The registration process for persons with disabilities has started in 4 project townships in 2022-2023 financial years and will continue in 2023-2024 financial years. The Union Minister also highlighted coordination with the Union Election Commission to make awareness of the equipment and voting methods among the persons with disabilities.
