Rights Of PWDs Meeting Of National Committee On Rights Of PWDs

The Coordination Meeting 2/2018 of the National Committee on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (NCRPD) was held at the meeting hall of the ministry of social welfare, relief and resettlement, Nay Pyi Taw on Wednesday.

At the meeting, vice president U Henry Van Thio in his capacity of the chairman of national committee on the rights of persons with disabilities delivered a remark.

Also present at the meeting were the Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye and U Kyaw Tin, deputy ministers Major General Myint Nwe, U Kyaw Myo and Dr. Mya Lay Sein, vice chairman of Myanmar Human Rights Commission, Regions and States ministers for social affairs, permanent secretaries, directors-general, representatives from Myanmar Federation of Persons with Disabilities and associations of disable persons and related organizations and responsible officials.

In his remark, the vice president said that the UN convention on the rights of persons with disabilities was signed on 7th December, 2011 to address more the rights of the persons with disabilities. In line with the convention, the rights of persons with disabilities law (2015) and its by-law (2017) were ratified and the strategy for the development of persons with disabilities (2016-2025) could be adopted.

The national level committee was formed to implement those law, by-laws and strategy effectively and the working committee, Regions States and Nay Pyi Taw Council committees and sub committees were also formed to facilitate the national committee.

Two times of national committee and two times of working committee were held and made the decisions related to the inclusiveness of persons with disabilities in the development. Next, the vice chairman of the national committee on the rights of persons with disabilities, Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye clarified the implementations for the rights of people with disabilities.

Then, the acting chairman of Myanmar Federation of persons with disabilities extended the greetings. Afterwards, the Union Minister Dr. Win Myat Aye explained the decisions of the second meeting, implementations on the decisions and the future working plans of the committee. Later, the Union Minister U Kyaw Tin, deputy ministers, members of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Regions and States ministers and senior officers and participants explained the related matters.

Next, the joint-secretary of national committee on the rights of persons with disabilities U Myat Thu Win expressed the words of thanks. Then, the chairman of national committee on the rights of persons with disabilities, vice president U Henry Van Thio gave the necessary guidelines and speech of conclusion.

After the meeting, the vice president posed for the documentary photo together with the attendees of the meeting.
