Rice Trading: Myanmar and Bangladesh undertake to renew the MoU

The Ministry of Commerce and Bangladesh signed a memorandum of understanding on rice trading between Myanmar and Bangladesh through G to G system in September 2017.

According to the MoU, 100,000 tons of rice each were exported for the 1st and 2nd time and 200,000 tons of rice for the 3rd time. Plans are underway for the extension of this agreement because the MoU has expired in September of this year.  

Min Aung Aye, Director, Department of Trade said "According to this MoU, the Myanmar Rice Federation and the Directorate General of Food in Bangladesh have signed for the implementation of rice trading. This contract is to purchase 150,000 tons of rice and 50,000 tons of parboiled rice every year. "

The MoU on rice trading which was signed in 2017 has expired in September this year. The relevant officials from Myanmar and Bangladesh have undertaken to renew this agreement to continue rice trading through bilateral cooperation.
